Life at Lakeview

Lakeview is a family home for adults, providing a safe and functioning environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. With 24 hour care, all supports are in place to provide and support all components of daily living. Goals are set for each individual and are supported and encouraged with the help of our staff, to find the most success each day.

It is our goal to meet the emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs of each individual and promote skills for adaptive functioning towards independence in various capacities. We aim to provide a wide variety of opportunities, yes, to learn, but to promote inclusion and connection as well. From daily outings to special community events, group sessions like our Cultural Studies and LifeSkills programs to fun at home activities like cooking, baking, movie nights, celebrating our favourite sporting events, campfire hangouts and playing with our resident pup Toby. There is always space made to build and find connection. To feel and be included.

Different home.

Same values.

Lakeview Community Living uses the same Inuit societal values, that our supported individuals are familiar with, to help cultivate our in-home culture. Respecting others, relationships and caring for people. Fostering good spirits by being open, welcoming and inclusive. Serving the community and working together for a common cause. Opportunities to develop skills, learning to be innovative and resourceful. Learning about, and respecting, the land. We value and incorporate these guiding principles and find they are so helpful for each of the ones supported in our care. Especially when creating strength-based goals, aiming to remove barriers that might hinder their success on a daily basis.
